Grounded is an open world survival game with an emphasis on crafting and combat. Players find themselves in a unique scenario where they are shrunken down to an insect's size and must traverse the sprawling jungle of a backyard lawn to uncover its many secrets and mysteries. Along the way, players can accumulate various materials and upgrades, many of which will require Raw Science to purchase from the Science Shop.

Throughout the game, there are various miniature science labs where you can retrieve Super Chips, which will unlock new recipes and upgrades. The first few labs can be completed in conjunction with the game's main questline. After that, you must decide for yourself which labs to tackle and in which order. Since they vary in both difficulty and their potential rewards, there is an order which will be easier for players to follow.

How To Complete The Oak Lab

To access these upgrades, you must first encounter the friendly robot named BURG.L in the Oak Lab. This will be facilitated through the tutorial quest "Spending Science." The entrance will only be accessible after activating the Mysterious Machine and causing the explosion. The Oak Lab is in the Oak Hill biome in the central area of the map, near the baseball and starting area.

The Hedge Lab is the first major exploration quest players will encounter. You will need to ascend an intricate branch network inside a hedge in order to locate it. First, find the Hedge Ascent location, which is marked by a paper clip and a sloped branch which acts as a ramp to begin the climb. While you may encounter some smaller enemies, the main issue here is the potential of falling. Keep this in mind at all times during the ascent.

After reaching the Apricop Punch-O box wedged into the hedge wall, use a nearby zipline to progress across to an outpost on the other side of the hedge. It may be wise to first prepare by equipping Fin Flops, Liquid Gills and Fluid Flippers, as you will be spending a lot of time underwater.

Enter the lab through a broken section, which will lead to a main door. You can open the door by activating three breakers around the lab, all of which will be accessible by swimming. With the breakers activated, progress inside the lab where you will find several Diving Bell Spiders, a SCA.B Scheme, and the Muscle Sprouts surrounding the main dome. The Pond BURG.L Chip is on a seat near the main console in the glass-roofed dome.

Located inside the Sandbox, the Black Anthill is full of aggressive enemies such as Black Soldier Ants. Come armed with several Bratburst or Splatburst bombs, since several areas will be blocked off by destructible debris.

The Trash Heap entrance is the easier way to approach. Once inside, follow the red wire along the ceiling, which will lead you to the lab. The sand entrance, while containing more enemies, will eventually lead to a section where the red wire can also be found and traced to the main lab entrance. From this location, you will also be able to access the Black Ant Queen should you choose to.

To unlock Sector A, head through the collapsed corridor, where you can clear some debris using bombs. This will open up access to a room with a console marked "A."
