What time is PST right now? What to know about the time change (2024)

Daylight saving time has left many people confused.

Especially when some states and territories including Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands don’t change their clocks.

Now states on the West Coast have changed their clocks from Pacific Standard Time, or PST, to Pacific Daylight Time, or PDT.

Arizona, which doesn't ever change time, now falls on the same hours as states in PDT when the time changes.

What time is PST right now?

Since daylight saving time was on Sunday, March 10, this year, that means states previously on PST are now on PDT. PDT is three hours behind Eastern Daylight Time.

What is PST time in USA?

PST was used from Nov. 5, 2023, to March 10, 2024. It was when daylight saving time, or DST, was not in effect.

It will be used again from Nov. 3, 2024, to March 9, 2025.

Is California PST or PT right now?

California still follows daylight saving time, so right now it is in PDT. The entire state is always in the Pacific time zone, or PT. Pacific time is not static and switches according to the time change.

Is PST 3 hours before EST?

Yes, PST is 3 hours before EST. Due to daylight saving time, states follow PDT, which is still three hours before EDT.

What states are in PT?

There are about four states in the Pacific time zone. Those states are California, the western counties of Idaho, Nevada, Oregon except most of Malheur County, and Washington.

Those states still practice daylight saving time, so they are currently under PDT.

Arizona also falls into the same time as these states because the state does not practice daylight saving time.
