Before the merge was announced, the Siga tribe was still reeling from their time at tribal council, where they voted out Jemila Hussain-Adams from their core. With Ben Katzman, Charlie Davis, Maria Shrime Gonzalez, Moriah Gaynor, and Tim Spicer all back at camp, Moriah explained that she felt blindsided by the rest of her tribemates. Moriah Felt Blindsided By Siga
She Was Left Out Of The Vote For Jem
At the Siga camp, Moriah was distressed that she had been left out of Jem's elimination at their very first tribal council. She explained that it had been difficult for her to understand why she'd been left out of the vote, and that she was playing her own game despite what the rest of Siga believed. Trying to grovel to her tribemates, Moriah made it clear that she wanted to be involved in their alliance moving forward, but had a very clear picture that she was on the bottom of the power structure. Moriah was, understandably, frustrated to learn this.
The Castaways Made The Merge
Each Tribe Celebrated The News
Excitingly, each of the tribes received treemail alerting them that they'd finally reached the mid-point of the game and would be merging into one tribe. Siga and Yanu were told to pack their belongings and drop their buffs, as they'd be moving to the Nami camp to merge with the other tribes. All the tribes were excited, but nervous to get into a more strategic stretch of the game. While they all vowed that they'd be loyal to each other, the castaways were excited to make new connections and forge new alliances. They did their best to play it cool.
Hunter Had To Work With His Beware Advantage Quickly
He Had To Complete It Before The Merge
Before the other tribes reached the Nami camp, Hunter had to do his best to work with his Beware Advantage to find the hidden immunity idol. As Nami had never gone to tribal council, Hunter had been advised that he could still use the advantage to find the idol if he did so before the merge. Hunter, who lost his vote on the last Survivor journey, had to quickly locate the Beware Advantage and complete a challenge that required tact. He struggled, as the rest of his tribemates were around and watching him, but he ultimately found the immunity idol.
Venus Was Excited For New Allies With The Merge
She Immediately Began To Strategize
Though she's been counted out by Nami, Venus has been excited about the merge since early on in the game as she knew it would give her the opportunity to actually play Survivor. Quickly after Nami welcomed Siga and Yanu to their camp, Venus got to work strategizing. She pulled Moriah and Tim aside to talk, asking them about the dynamics in their tribe, then did the same with Q and Kenzie. Hopeful that she would be able to make new connections and position herself away from the rest of Nami, Venus was playing somewhat too strong for the others.
Maria Was Confused By Tim’s Stance
Q Struggled To Trust Tim
During Survivor 46 episode 5, Tim had shared during the journey with Hunter and Q that he and Maria had forged a bond. He committed them to an alliance of 6, along with Hunter, Tevin, Q, and Tiffany. Unfortunately, Tim hadn't filled Maria in about the alliance before Q asked her about it after they merged. Maria shared that though she liked Tim, she felt like he was her number three, not her number one. Despite feeling like she would likely take the alliance to keep herself safe, Maria sharing she didn't know about it raised red flags for Q.
Moriah Was Intimidated By Venus
She Felt Uncomfortable That Venus Approached Her
Moriah felt intimidated by the merge, especially when Venus wanted to play the game as hard as possible. She explained that she didn't feel like she could trust Venus because of what she was hearing from the rest of Nami, who have never trusted Venus. While Moriah was interested in forming bonds outside of Siga, she didn't want to put her trust into a player she felt was domineering. Moriah explained that she was going to do her best to throw Venus's name out to others, hopeful that she'd be able to easily have support to get Venus eliminated.
Jeff Split The Tribe Into Teams For A Challenge
The Winners Won Immunity & A Meal
Survivor host Jeff Probst explained that though the tribes were together, the merge wouldn't actually happen until after the next tribal council. He shared the way that the next challenge would work, as it wasn't a true immunity challenge. The tribe would be split into two teams, and the winning team would get a feast along with immunity from tribal council. The challenge, which split the castaways into a purple team of Ben, Tim, Q, Hunter, Tevin, Tiffany, and Kenzie, and an orange team of Soda, Venus, Charlie, Maria, Moriah, and Liz. The purple team wound up winning the challenge.
The Winners Felt The Siga Tribe Were Too Quiet
They Ultimately Said Mo Was An Issue
At the winners' feast, the group explained that they wanted to discuss who would be going home at tribal council. Of the six eligible to be eliminated - Soda, Venus, Charlie, Maria, Moriah, and Liz - the winners felt that Moriah or Venus would be the best choices after listening to everyone speak up. The former Siga tribe members, Ben and Tim, struggled to bring a name to the table before ultimately calling out Venus, which made the rest of the winners feel it made more sense for them to take one of Siga's numbers away and eliminate Moriah.
Venus Worked Strategically To Get Rid Of Charlie
She Tried To Assemble The Women
While Moriah seemed to be the person that the winners had settled on, when they brought her name to the rest of the merged tribe, Venus took issue with it. She explained that she knew her name had been brought up, but she hoped that it would be a guy leaving during the next tribal council. Venus felt Moriah would be a waste of a tribal council, as she didn't seem like much of a threat. In trying to push others to vote for Charlie instead, she made a few of the winners, including Q, angry, who reconsidered eliminating Venus.
Tribal Council Was Tricky & Tension-Filled
Moriah Wound Up Being Eliminated
During the expanded tribal council segment, Jeff questioned the castaways about their gameplay now that they were facing the merge. While Venus proved herself to be a threat throughout the open conversation with Jeff, Moriah used the time to reveal that she was on the bottom of the Siga structure, but inadvertently made it clear they'd all been working together since the merge. Trying to use her Survivor shot in the dark, Moriah was unfortunately unsuccessful and unable to keep herself safe. After the votes were read, Moriah was the next person to be eliminated from Survivor 46 and left.
