Aaron Rodgers is now an owner of a major professional sports team. On Friday evening, it was announced that Rodgers has joined the Milwaukee Bucks ownership group as a minority owner and it made waves throughout the entire sports world. Rodgers is now the first active NFL player to own a piece of a major professional sports teams in the market he plays. Rodgers got a chance to talk about how the process came about and he said it's been something him and owner Wes Edens have been talking about for the last few years.
"Wes and I just kind of talked it out," Rodgers said to Fox Sports Wisconsin. "I'm a humongous sports fan. Basketball is my first love before football. So the opportunity to join the ownership group here in a state that I love, a team that I've followed and cheered for it's pretty special."
One of the reasons Rodgers joined to ownership group is not only his love for the Bucks and basketball, but he has a lot of respect for Edens and the rest of the ownership group which also includes hedge fund managers Marc Lasry and Jamie Dinan. But Rodgers also wanted to show his love for the state of Wisconsin.
"I 've lived here for 13 years," Rodgers said. "I love this state. I love the region. I love to finish my career here. It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up."
There's no telling how much say Rodgers will have when it comes to the future of the Bucks, but the addition of Rodgers may entice free agents to come to Milwaukee as the Bucks are one of the up and coming teams in the NBA. They are led by Giannis Antetokounmpo who is an MVP candidate, finishing the year with 26 points per game.

It's been an interesting offseason for Rodgers who missed more than half of the 2017 season due to a broken collarbone. Earlier this week, there were reports that he was "frustrated" with the lack of communication from the Packers front office about the offseason moves, specifically letting quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt leave and cutting Jordy Nelson. However, Rodgers told reporters everything's fine and he wants to finish his career with the Packers.
"I'm under contract for the next two years," Rodgers said. "Obviously, we'd like to lock something in, I think, at some point. The team has made that public knowledge that they'd love to do that. As I said many times I'd love to finish my career here. So there's more than mutual interest on both sides."
Also this offseason, Rodgers got together with Patrick and was seen with her in Daytona, Florida for the Daytona 500 and Mexico for vacation. The couple recently got back from a mission trip where they spent time in places such as India and Africa.
